I've always been kind of intimidated by making French Onion Soup because it usually calls for a dozen or so different kinds of cooking wines and cognac and the exact caramelizing etc. etc. etc. So I came across this recipe and found that it's a crockpot recipe meaning you throw everything into a crockpot and forget about it for 4-6 hours. So I thought I'd try it and my husband loved it, and so did I.
