Easy Cheddar Buttermilk Biscuits


Ingredients:

2 cups flour
1 tbsp baking powder
1/2 tsp baking soda
1 tsp salt
1 tbsp sugar
1/2 cup buttermilk
1 1/2 cups extra sharp cheddar, grated
6 tbsp cold butter, grated
2 tsp melted butter
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp parsley, dried


Directions:

Preheat oven to 425 degrees. Mix all dry ingredients and grate in cold butter. Add grated cheese. Add buttermilk and mix all ingredients by hand until it just barely comes together. 

Cover a 12 x 12 inch space on counter with flour. Roll out dough and knead 15 times. Roll out using a rolling pin to 1/2 inch thickness. Using a biscuit cutter, cut out dough and place on an parchment or Silpat lined baking sheet. 

Melt 2 tsp butter. Add garlic powder and parsley. Brush tops of biscuits and cook in oven for approximately 12 minutes or until lightly golden brown. Remove and serve with butter, jam or gravy. enjoy!
