So Easy Baked Ravioli alla Bolognese

The ingredients list may look long, but don't get intimidated...this recipe really is easy! I love tomato sauce pasta dishes, so I normally have most of these ingredients on hand in my cupboards. This is an easy go to recipe that everyone will love. You can also cook this recipe in a slow cooker.  Layer the ingredients as you would in the baking dish and you are good to go. Cook on low for 6-8 hours and enjoy!

Bolognese Sauce:

1 lb ground Italian sausage, removed from casing
1 lb ground turkey
2 tbsp olive oil
4 cloves garlic, finely diced
1 minced onion
1 roasted red pepper, finely diced (optional)
2 large tomato, diced small
1-28 oz can marinara sauce (Trader Joe's has a great one)
4 tbsp tomato paste
1 tbsp sugar
2 tbsp basil, dried
2 tbsp oregano, dried
1 tsp garlic powder
1/2 tsp garlic salt
1 tbsp red crushed pepper (optional)
salt &pepper to taste
1-24 oz bag frozen cheese ravioli, thawed
2 cups mozzarella and cheddar blend
1 cup Parmesan

Directions:

In a deep pan, warm olive oil on medium-high heat. Add sausage and ground turkey, saute at medium heat until starts to brown. Add onion and garlic and roasted red pepper. Finishing sauteing the meat until cooked. Add tomatoes and marinara sauce. Saute and scrape bottom of pan. Stir in tomato paste and add remaining ingredients. Taste and adjust salt and pepper to your liking. Cover and simmer on low heat for 30 minutes. If tomato sauce gets too thick, add one to two teaspoons of water. Remove sauce from heat and set aside.

Pre-heat oven to 375 degrees.

Into the bottom of a 9 x 13 inch baking dish, pour 1 cup of sauce. Lay half of ravioli over sauce.  Cover with 1/3 of mozzarella and cheddar.  Repeat this process again.

Top with any remaining sauce and cheese.  Sprinkle Parmesan cheese over top.

Bake at 375 degrees for 30 minutes or until cheeses are thoroughly melted.
Serve with garlic bread and salad. Enjoy!
